Federico Carra, lawyer and scholar of Eastern cultures, decided to resume his studies after the death of his father, hoping to understand whether they might meet again one day. After many years of research, notes, and drafts, he found himself with enough material for a book—and with the long-sought answer.

The book examines the texts of the Gospels of Mark, Luke, and Matthew, which are called the Synoptic Gospels because they can be read side by side, allowing their many similarities to be immediately seen. Jesus was Jewish and spoke and preached in Aramaic, but all the Gospels are written in Greek. This linguistic leap brought with it a cultural and mental shift that altered—and in some cases erased—the original Jewish context.
The book explores all of this with the aim of introducing readers to Judaism and Palestine in the time of Jesus, taking into account the complex political, religious, and linguistic circumstances. The Gospel narratives are analyzed within this framework.
The conclusions that emerge may be surprising.
In the overview of religious texts, there is generally a consistent methodology and religious attitude (in terms of faith and orthodoxy) among their authors. This work, however, does not follow the traditional methods of New Testament exegesis. Instead, it adopts the approach pioneered by Baruch Spinoza and other independent thinkers, which consists of applying basic logic to the analysis of the texts, supported by a broad and in-depth knowledge of the subject matter.
